Ok, so i put on a air intake system and a glasspack. The engine sounds great with the air intake. but the glasspack didnt seem to make a difference. Its hard to hear the exhaust even 3 feet away. Any idea what the problem is?
2.5in i beleive, if it's not 2.5in it's smaller so you could go to napa and get a reducer and use that and make your own 2.5in exhaust after the cat and it would sound a lot better
If you don't have to worry about emissions, I say drop both cats and the smog pump. She'll be load as H***!! But if you don't want it extremely loud, still remove the stockers and put on a Hi-flow. I believe magnaflow sells some good hi-flow cats for a good price. Check out summitracing.com, I think you could get different ends on the aftermarket CAT so that you wouldn't have to rig up a reducer.
If you want some better performance gains, get some full-length headers, and run a single 3" exhaust or dual 2 1/4"s.. Though I'm starting to think the single 3" does have an advantage over the true duals.
I was just looking at the cats. It doesnt look like an easy job. I just might have to replace everything from the exhaust manifold to the beginning of the cat back. I could try cutting out the cats.....
I've got a single 3" high flow Cat with a 3" Magnaflow Muffler. It isn't loud just idling, but has a great roar when you're on it! You can run without a muffler if you have the stock Cats and it still doesn't sound load, but add a Flowmaster 40 and it will drive you crazy droning down the highway.
Well there not california compliant so they're probably higher flowing than the stockers were brand new. And much better than the dual stock cats are doing now, I'm sure there pretty clogged up. How many mile you got on her.
But I'm pretty sure magnaflow actually had a line-up specifically branded as High-flow.
