Ok my truck got vandalized by an unknown person (haha) and someone poured coolant and water in my tank, along with mulch and bb's...I have the tank dropped....but now I have a question for you guys.... what is the location of my fuel filters? and should I soak them in diesel b4 the install?
The primary fuel filter is on the drivers side frame rail. Slide under your truck at the driver's side door and it will be horizontally mounted on the frame rail (HFCM = horizontal fuel consitioning module). It is also your fuel pump.
The secondary filter is under your hood. It will be the smaller filtration unit (next to the larger oil filter unit). Both of these filters have black plastic (threaded) caps with a hex nut molded in the plastic.
I do not understand your question on the filters. I would change them and not re-use them (if that is your question). I would plan on changing them again very soon also .......... you can never get all the crud out of the lines.
The Tech Folder has the procedures for the filter change (and even has pics IIRC).
When done with the install, do NOT crank engine. Turn key to "on" position for one minute 3 times - this will prefill the empty filters and lines. After you do this, it should start right up.
got it fixed funny thing is I think my fuel filters may have been the original ones :-( truck runs like a champ...and the water in fuel line finally went off...rollin coal again thanks to friends and help from you guys..

yeah the truck feels like brand new again lol after driving an econo-box till it was fixed made me appreciate my truck...plus i got to replace the hcfm plug bc I had to drain that too..it would have been amazing to have a lift or not having to do this in the first place..but such is life, and life will go on
