Newby body question
I never been brand loyal but have, I take whatever is the best deal, and have mostly owned older Dodge trucks. I recently inherited a '78 F150 4x4 long bed that has significant sentimental value to me. Being new to the Ford truck market, I have no idea what parts are interchangeable. Right now, I am looking to get the body work done. It isn't in too bad of shape except for the bed.
My question is, what years will direct bolt to mine?

1973-1979 Are the same "Generation"
But there are minor trim differences.
As stated above a 67-96 bed will fit,the body lines won't match.(Refer to below pictures)

The left quarter panel used on 1973/76 Styleside beds have exposed fuel caps, while 1977/79's have fuel doors.
The filler necks and hoses are specific to these two beds, and do not interchange.

I like the way this thread went. I have always wanted to make a "spotters guide" to 67-96 Ford trucks, 73-79 being my favorites, which specified the differences in grilles, emblems, trims, etc between the years that are otherwise very similar.
