78/79 Front Bumper Brackets?
I have searched around and have not seen replacement parts for this item.
Also, I have seen replacement bumpers-LMC, D.C. that do not have the holes in the bumper to attach these. Where these only on the 78 and 79's?

the one in the picture looks mint........you could make one if you can weld.
as for the lmc bumpers not having the holes for it, use a drill.
cheers!

From the pic, it has NO brackets.
They are bolted directly to the frame horns.
Only certain applications has the brackets. Most of them didn't get brackets.

Oops. I skimmed, as this question has been posted sooo many times already.
Doesn't appear to be factory.
The only closet thing I could find was a brace [straight, not at 45] and used only on 4WDs.

My 78 f-150 4wd had the same angle bracket. I would just drill a hole in the new bumper, in the frame if needed, and bolt em' on.

Yeah. The brackets are stock. I will have to drill if need be.

I just searched again.
No way in any form is that puny brace is factory.
Look at this illustration for reference.

Well I beg to differ. Nothing has been done to this truck since bought. The bumper is original and at the edge where this bracket attaches has been extended down a bit to accommodate the hole for the nut. Bumpers made from the factor mold for these years also have the 'tab and hole' if if you will for the bolt also.

This is straight from the Ford parts catalog.
I can't help you further now. Good luck in your search.

Thanks. Maybe they added these late in 78 as others have the bracket too.

D8TZ17980B .. Right Bumper Brace-to Frame /
Obsolete
D8TZ17980C .. Left Bumper Brace-to Frame /
Obsolete
Fits: 1978/79 F150 Super Cab 4WD / 1978/79 Bronco.
Fits: 1978/79 F250 4WD / 1979 F350 4WD.
BOTH of these brackets were
obsoleted in October 1980.
To be obsoleted this soon means only one thing: Ford found them un-necessary.
No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

Hmm. 17753A is the bracket, which is not on mine, the D8TZ17980B brace seems like it would be the part, except my truck is a 78 F250 4x2.

Mine had them. I used the existing ones on the truck when I put my new bumper on. I really didn't see a need to replace them. Mine is a 78 F250 2WD.
