Check engine light on, and over-drive light flashing?

Check engine light on, and over-drive light flashing?
Hey guys, my check engine light came on a couple of days ago and the overdrive light started flashing. No hard shifts or any transmission issues. Ford dealer said it's time for a new VSS sensor on the rear diff. The past two days the check engine light has went off by itself and the OD light has not flashed either. Would this problem clear itself up, or change the sensor anyway? Thanks guys for any insight on this.

Yes, there is no problem or any issue out of the ordinary. The check engine light was on and the OD light was flashing, but for the last 4 days or so the check engine light has not come back on and the OD seems to be working properly.
