Has any one tried the new E3 spark plugs? We just got them in at the parts store. Same price as ac delcos, so Im thinking about trying them in my daily driver.
I agree, although, I had heard the same thing about the Denso IR plugs I put in three years ago. However, the premium I paid for the Densos was for the more exotic metal and not a silly design change. Some engines like the fancy designs, such as the Bosch +4 and probably those too. Try them if your inclined and be prepared to put in others if those disappoint you.
I put a set into my 98' Ford Ranger 3.0L and it didn't take long to begin to have engine problems. The plugs are too hot for an average engine especially one that has a lot of miles on it. My new problem is that I (this morning) am trying to change them out with OEM Autolite plugs and I can't get the new plugs to thread into the block. I think the E3 plugs have cut new starter threads and the Autolites will not thread in. What now?? Any suggestions as I do not want to just buy new E3's just so they will thread in. Crap!
I don't know of any clean ways, but you can try chasing the threads with a tap coated in grease. The grease should catch most all of the metal flakes from cleaning the threads up. I would also try different plugs in each location. I've never had good luck with autolite, so I would expect that some of them have been poorly threaded.
