Does it do it if you start off fast? If so check for a bad motor mount (fan hitting shroud), if not check for a fraying serpentine belt (should do it all of the time) or could possibly be the torque converter.
no it does not do it when starting off fast. it seems like you almost have to hit the passing gear before it happens, it sounds like someone wadding up paper and small rocks hitting the truck but coming off the engine area.
