Holy crap that's a LOT of money! How common is this? This is the first Im hearing of it.
While we're on the subject, my motors whine loudly while opening....what's that all about??

when i brought the topic up i found a few others with issues. most never have issues. i never had a problem with neither my 2000 or 2002. makes me think that the 04 had a bad fix at one time. the old glass under the carpet was a tell tail sign of that. its still a crappy way to attach a huge heavy window...3 glued on points.
my old 2004 xlt, the right side vent window fell out of the truck from the front mounts. only area holding it was the rear mount.
the whole window has to be replaced. i had them go with a cheaper and easier option of replacing it with a FIXED window that came in the lower model excursions. thus no more venting (bolted in) no more possible issues.
i have a feeling my issue came from a shoddy glass repair, but either way i have been very wary of the vent windows since then.
the final bill the insurance got was alittle over $1600 for the window.
Sounds like they ripped off the insurance company.............nothing new,

they didnt even know insurance was involved untill it was done. they thought it was going to be out of pocket. he worked with me pretty well.
there was no ripping off involved, you have to buy the glass direct from ford as nobody else makes it. go price it yourself and tell me what you find. its not cheap. add in shipping to AK and install.

Hmmm. That's interesting. Guess its sporadic so I won't lose sleep over it. But you're right, three little glue points ain't much to hold big ol pieces of glass like that!
Thanks Russ! And congratulations on your promotion. You'll do well, I am sure.
