I just gave a estimate on a 06 d max that got pumped with water, all fuel system parts at my cost (pump, high pressure pump ,injectors ect.) 5, 400 dollars. Thats without labor whichs means removing the tank and that good stuff. Book pays 30 hours total and I bet I run into other problems because a non diesel guy was driving it and god knows what really happened. Ill pay Fords part prices any time with less labor to fix it.

Do you mean they filled the fuel tank with water, or they pulled water in through the intake. Im assuming water in fuel due to all the fuel system components but how the hell did they cause that much damage?

Rusty , nasty water, I think the driver got bad fuel and kept pushing it cause he wanted to get back to the shop and go home. It didn't start in the morning and he needed the truck. I got the call and everything is contaminated. I'm doung a compression test in the morning and go from there.

I put in several sets of injectors in duracraps over the years . Around 4k out the door . Glad I was not the owner .... The older ones were " fun " , just like their water pumps !

The problem I have doing injectors on the earlier d max is, those little 6mm Allen keys ... The head strips out too easily. Hex is much much better.

The trend that I've observed locally is that Ford truck owner's are surprised and very unhappy at the cost to fix it when it brakes, the Chevy/GMC owner's expect it to have problems and cost big money to fix it. Then you have the Dodge owners that love to throw money at there trucks and love to have there trucks brake down so they can do more mods. I don't know if this is the norm but around here when it brakes down the Ford owner complains, Chevy/GMC owner's say nothing and Dodge owners brag about how much better there trucks will be.

Not for nothing, but go price out a 6.4 or a 6.7 fuel system. Its no joke either. Big dollars to repair them too. High pressure fuel systems are temperamental. They don't like water at all. I love the power they make but the cost of fixin them keeps me away.
