I am out crawling around under the beast today, 95 f150 supercab w/351 e40d trans, and I notice the number 44 stamped on the pumpkin for the front end. I know its IFS but I was wondering if this means that it is a dana 44 and if not what does this mean? thanks
on 33s or under they are just peachy but if the tires get too much bigger and more extreme usage they show their weak points fast but for a truck that dont see heavy offroad they are good
Personally, my 78 runs the hd 44 and I really dont have the 1000 dollars laying around to buy the D60 front end that some people in missouri are asking for them.
The axle will do its duty as long as you keep in mind it will break a little sooner than a D60 if you beat up on it. Running stock tires, keeping the truck within load limits, and you like most people with them probably wont complain a bit about it. If you are a mudder, rock crawler, or someone that regularly loads a truck beyond its limits you may want a swap, if you cant afford the bigger truck.
