need help fast
i just replaced the slave cylinder in my 86 ranger. it has a 2.3 5spd 2wd. i bleed the system. i dont have no more air in the system or at least when i open the bleeder vavle.
i can some times get it in 1 if i slape it and then it wil move in and out the rest fine ecept reverse. but it doesnt always work like that. the pedale feels stif like i think it should. i was told i have air in the master cylinder and need to bleed it.
so how do i bleed the master cylinder. theres no **** vavle on it. and i took the bolts out and tried to puss it throu the fire wall. im getting pissed here.
please someone tell me what i need to do step by step. could it be something else?

-Check mounting point and firewall for cracks, rust, motion when working clutch pedal. (usually an F series problem, but with the age here, worth looking.)
-Check master for leaks, cracks, any indication it won't hold pressure.
-Check hose for bulges--have someone work clutch while you check.
-RE check bleeding procedure--easy to suck air into clutch lines methinks.
-This is internal slave, correct? Once you clear this other stuff, it's time to take it apart again. Did you do other work or replace other components? Recheck those, or check the condition when you go through it again.
when i was bleeding it, it had a good soild stream, could the master cylinder still be weak. thats about to be my next buy.
i got the truck back up on the ramps and looks under her around the bell housin. found what looks like brake fluid coming from the bell housing and its been a few days since i last bleed it. so i know its new. im going to pull this tranny back out.
how do i go about bleeding this whole system? how would i know the master is leaking or not holding pressure. the pedal is stiff and i dont hear no noise.
thank you
As you sit there is gear, foot on the clutch, engine running, does it start to engage on it's own? If so, something is leaking. We know the slave has sprung a leak, so once you get that fixed again, do the test on the master.
The way the hose fits into the slave or master might be an issue--seems there is a pin to push or some darn thing. Check that.
As for system bleeding, purge as much as you can, straighten out the high points, keep the master full, have someone help so the pedal does not come up with the bleeder closed.
I hate when this happens....I took a trans in and out several times in a year due to trans issues, so I know it isn't fun.
