Question headers

do you think these headers will cause any problems for my 77 f150 4x4?

Dynomax Performance 85052 - Dynomax Blackjack Painted Headers+

I put those on my Bronco years ago fit good .Only issue is the cross member have to get the 2 or 3 inch drop straight pipe(Summit sells these pipes also) to go under or over cross member

Your kind of like me, it's hard to spend $300-400 on a set of headers for a truck that I only paid $300 to start with. As I agree the coated headers are nice but when they cost as much if not more then what you paid for the truck, it's a little hard to swallow.

As far fit, if I where a gambling man I would think they would. From everything I have read the frame is the same width on the F150s.

Also, I just did a quick search on Summit for your application. Here are a couple cheapies that are listed for your year.

Hooker Headers 6902HKR - Hooker Competition Headers

Hedman Hedders 89210 - Hedman Street Hedders

Flowtech 12520FLT - FlowTech Headers

Just need to search a little deeper on the Summit site.

Does anyone have pix of the method to get around the crossmember? I am installing headers this weekend and I want to see what I'm up against.

It depends on why you need them. It may be a waste of money if this is just a winter driver for chugging around in the snow. The power in headers is more in the higher rpm range. There isn’t much torque improvement at low rpm’s over stock manifolds and stock manifolds are a heck of a lot sturdier. I like the Hedman Elite series. They seem to be the sturdiest for headers, but to each his own.

I don't know about the 4X4 but I can get a pic of the crossmember on my 2wd. I had to use some hedman hedder extensions to route the exhaust up over my tranny cross member.

so bolting cutouts straight to the headers would be out of the question?

If I remember right it's only about 8-12" from the end of my blackjack headers to the cross member. The cross member is almost centered on the end of the header out-put.

Then headers would be a definite advantage. I would take a look at the hedman elites. The have some really thick flanges.

o, so my cutouts would fit, i think... they were made by my dad to fit straight onto the headers, and it think they're like 10" long. could u post pics of how close the headers come out to the crossmember?

I can't post a picture until next week. Wife went out of town for the weekend and took the camera and chord. Hopefully someone else can help you out.
