Rephrasing my question:

How do you get your C6 to "kickdown" for passing when using an aftermarket carb?

you need to specify a holley with a ford kick down. this linkage is part of the bell crank and will attach directly with the kick down rod attached to the trans. now if you have a new holley and the carb is not a model with the kick down you need to exchange it.

if your holley is not set up for kit down, you can get a
little holley kit that will let you have a kickdown linkage on
it. i added one and worked fine.

lokar makes a very nice kit to put a kickdown cable on a c6.
i've got one on my 460 with a holley 750 double pump and it works great.

The 1BBL linkage won't work with an aftermarket intake. The best thing to do is to rig a cable setup (pretty easy really), or shift manually. With the 300's torque you should be able to run it in drive around town, and if you need to pass, just hit it to L2. Just remember, the C6 has a manual valve body. If you put it in 2, it's in 2. It won't upshift out of L1 on its own. And if you're cruising, and hit it to L1, it will go there.
