Hey gang...been bouncing around here a little and making comments here and there - even prompted for an add to my local Chapter - so I figured it's time I intro myself a little.
Call me by my screen name or call me Bill, either works. I'm in the Laurel Highlands of PA - hopefully for a long, long time to come but in this economy, one never knows.
The ride is very stock - 97 Explorer powered by the 4.0L V6 and coupled up with an automatic and the ControlTrac 4x4 system. 112,000 miles and runs pretty good for its age. It's the daily driver and it has a little of what I'm being told is the "typical" rust on these things...in the dogleg area behind the rear doors and on the back hatch. Getting around to working on that though now that weather is more cooperative. Aside from the paint issues and some appearance stuff, nothing much happening to it. I've run Ford trucks ever since I graduated college (dad was a Chevy guy and he bought me one while I was in college...) and always will - they've been very good to me.
I am somewhat actively searching for a project truck too, even though funds and space to do it are limited. What can I say, I want to dream? LOL. I would LOVE to find about a '91 Ranger 4x4 to work on. Close to what I had graduating college, which was an STX Extended Cab with the 4.0L and a 5 speed. Something I can wrench on and have fun with.
Bill welcome to the FTE. You'll get some good help with questions, and we cause some problems too. But that's for you to fiqure out. We have alot of fun here.
Bob
George - hopefully I can get out to Carlisle this year. Would be fun to get out for an all-truck event. Haven't been out for any shows out there in a while now.
