Trucks been doing this on and off for a month, at first it was at low speeds if I was turning, now its doing it on and off even going straight, but its only when the brakes are applied. You can hear a loud scrape/grind/squeak coming from the front. Got disc brakes up front, and their still pretty new as far as I know. Got tires yesterday and Big O didn't mention anything about the brakes being bad. Any thoughts?
When the lining on the disc pads wears down, its metal backing rubs against the rotors.
Some of these pads used rivets to attach the lining to the pads.
You won't have any rotors to turn...if you let it go too much longer.
You will end up with grooves in your rotors.
Because of weight distribution, the front brakes on these trucks do over 60% of the braking.
You sure it'd be that my brakes are shot? I was thinking this, but the noise isn't always there, it started to when I was turning, now its probably every 5 applications of the brakes. I just now drove about 30 miles and it happened once.
