2005 F350 V10 auto
have truck at a ford dealer for a couple items,
got a qoute of $475 to do the plugs--ouch
i got 42k on the clock, they said hold off till next year or
around 60k miles
that price sound reasonable? doesnt to me
i recently changed the plugs in my v10 dodge, i used autolites
cost me $25 and change for the plugs and 1 hour of my own labor
i also have had a low idle in gear/and stall upon shift to reverse problem
i had a low idle all the time until i cleaned the maf, that helped alot-now
it starts up easier and idles fine in park or N
when i come to a stop or shift intogear, my rpms sit at about 400-500
and it stalls mostly on the shift to reverse, it also stumbles pretty good when i hit the gas when its at that low idle
dealer could not duplicate issue, but they said they updated the pcm- and will be charging me for that. seems odd though, i drive the truck daily, and it has been stalling on me daily for the past couple months.
any ideas?
front axle seals are being replaced again- under warrantee
and e brake ratchet/pedal mech is being replaced under warrantee
im happy their covering those at least
Your stalling problem sounds like a dirty IAC. You can clean it fairly easily.
You can do the plugs yourself and save some dough. Only #4 and #5 are a pain. You can get them all with a 10" extension taped to a 5/8 plug socket. You'll need some anti-sieze for the plug threads and you have to use a torque wrench to ensure you torque them to 11 ft.lbs. no more, no less.
yah, thanks for the plug advise--guess im just kinda busy
and thought of some of the horror stories ive heard of changing
plugs on the 5.4/6.8 motors
but i'll certainly reconsider doing it myself
I think the stalling problem might have a PCM reprogramming for it. Ask the dealer about it, there might be a TSB out there for it.
Correct you both were-
the dealer was waiting on parts and they actually took it upon them selves(Im shocked) to look thru the tsb's, and found one for my condition,
they updated the PCM.
I picked it up last night, all seems well- shes back to her old self
they replaced front axle seals, new ebrake pedal/ ratchet mech,
and pcm flash- all done
total bill $106
a truly pleasant dealer experience for once
thanks all
