help! My truck won't start. Truck started fine turned it off, tried to started (remotely) up again with in 10 minutes or so, but no dice. It cranks but won't start.
What year truck? Do you get the wait to start light when turning key on? Any smoke when cranking? Oil level and fuel filter OK? Others will be along soon.
My truck is 2000 F-350 4X4 I get all normal lights on panel changed out my cos a few months ago as well as fuel filter one thing I do notice I am not hearing the fuel bowl
Fuel pump should run at key on for @ 20-30 seconds. Pump is located on driver side frame below door. You could also cycle the fuel bowl drain valve, leave open and turn key on to see if you get fuel flow. Any smoke when cranking?
And sorry for poor manners. Welcome to FTE. Great bunch here.
Not necessarily. Since the fuel pump isn't running, check the fuses under the hood. If one of the big 30amp jobbies is blown, unplug the fuel bowl heater (only electrical connection on the fuel bowl), replace the fuse, and try to start it.

I only said that to start because he didnt mention that the fuel pump was not running so i went with the first thing i thought.

Understood, but IMO the CPS is "leaned on" a bit too much as the cause of a no start. There are several other things that should be checked prior to swapping the CPS.
I fixed a guy's 97 F250 that nobody could get to start. He replaced the CPS, GPR, IDM, and a few other parts with no luck. He had several other back yard mechanics look at the truck, and one guy even tried to fire it up on ether Me, I took about 30 minutes going over everything- check for fuel pressure or gelled fuel, checked the ICP connection, checked the IPR, checked HPOP oil level, cleaned and tightened battery terminals, noted that there was no smoke from the tailpipe when cranking... found a dead fuse due to a shorted fuel bowl heater. Swapped the fuse and whaddya know... fire in the hole!
My point with that story was simply that there are several things that should be verified before the CPS is ever swapped to rule out other causes first.
Agreed i was just saying that it is also easy to check with the tach check. But i agree thats y also put the battery voltage in there cause ive had that problem and sure cured it.
