I am trying to find specifications and parts for a differential. the tag top row is S319D and the bottom row is 3L5095A24. It has 3.50 gear and 31 spline. Any info would be helpful.
from the bottom row you can read 3.50 limited slip, that's all i know about the code. what year and model truck do you have and what kind of information are you looking for?
Thanks for the reply Chris. I was trying to ID the differential to get repair parts. I needed the carrier (the part the ring gear is attached to. Finally found one ($$$!). This differential is a limited slip version with 4 pinion gears driving the axles. probably would have been cheaper to buy a good used limited slip or traction lock differential. The differential is in a 1985 Bronco. this is not the original differential. The previous owner installed this after replacing the original engine with a 1970 429 with a holly 4 barrel and MSD ignition. Thanks again for your reply.
Looks to me like a 9" Ford 3.50 ratio with a trac-loc carrier (unless someone has changed ratio or carrier).
Parts availability for the 9" are endless in the aftermarket world. I installed a Auburn Pro series carrier in my 1979 F-150 about eight years ago when I rebuilt it.
There are many different combinations on axle bearings for the 9". Be cautious when ordering new ones. The later model in trucks commonly used the taper cone & cup style (BCA# A20 & National seal# 3195).
Also, many different pinion yokes. You will need all the numbers off of the tag if you are trying to order a new yoke thre Ford. Some of the yokes have been obsoleted; however, find one that is the same height & utilize a different conversion u-joint @ the diff.
