I have had a wicked wheel back ordered forever and I got an email today saying it would be here wednesday problably so I guess Im going to install that this week. I got new pedestal O rings coming with it. So whats the easiest way to install that? Do you have to pull the turbo or can you do it with it on the truck also what is the foil delete that makes it whistle louder? Thanks in advance
I have not done the WW but I have taken out the turbo and it is fairly easy I thought. I have heard others have done the install leaving the turbo on the truck also with no issues.
The foil delete is taking the foil off the hot side (drivers side) intercooler pipe. A pain in the butt. It may give you more whistle especially with the WW. Looks better without the foil.
I would do it with the turbo on been there done both and its easier to do with the turbo on IMHO just get some wobbles and extentions and it will come right off.
Just did mine yesterday. Here is the link I used to do it. Pretty good instructions. Superior Wheel Installation Guide.pdf (application/pdf Object) Has lots of pictures too! Didn't need to remove the turbo. I think it's easier that way. The only thing that was hard was working under the hood like that for 2-4 hours. Kinda sore that evening. Good luck!
I did mine with it on, but having done a turbo swap, I think it's easier pulling it. You just need a set of O-rings. And might as well get two sets and replace the pedestal O-rings too.
That said, I had no problems getting everything lined up. I left the turbo bolts slightly loose, wiggled it on to the collector, tightened up the V-clamp, then tightened up the turbo bolts last.
Im going to put the wicked wheel on and try to do the foil delete thursday. I noticed I have quit a bit of greasy dirt built up where the foiled tube meets up with the turbo. Do I need to get new adapters so when I put it back together or is that not the problem the one I got may just be loose?

Just clean everything up and reuse. Simple Green or Purple Power works good. Do all the boots while your at it. They get grimey from the vapors from the CCV (Crank Case Ventilation). FYI - The IC tubes connect to what we call the Y-Pipe or Spider. The other ends connect to the IC (Intercooler). There are 2 more boots, typically orange, under the spider.
They get real grimey as well. If you don't have time to clean them make sure they're tight.
