What would you pay?

For an 87-F250, 4x4, XLT, 6.9, ZF 5sp, 67,000 original miles, one owner. Complete Banks kit installed at under 5,000 miles. Injection pump re-calibrated at the same time. Not just turned up but built by a real good pump guy.

Mobil synthetic since 15,000 miles in engine, synthetic in axles, trans and transfer case early on. SCA's always taken care of. Body has no rust, paint is original and shines. Tops of both fenders have a few small spots where the paint has come off, hood is fine. Interior is almost like new. Seat cover and dash cover in the first 2 weeks of it's life and large floor mats on the carpet. Heavy 3 leaf springs in front end at 20,000 miles, rides almost level. Starts right up and runs excellent. Too bad it's a standard cab. I would love this truck in a supercab.

There are few older, original trucks in the condition this one is in. I am considering a trade. I have a 97 3/4 ton with a big block gas motor, automatic, 69,000 miles and in very good condition. It's lower, easier to get into and drive. The diesel owner is 77 yrs old as is his wife. They are retired OTR truck drivers.

I know what the actual value is but what would it worth to YOU? How much would you be willing to give?

Well that sounds like your buying an almost brand new truck there. That is actually the exact truck I want. I would give in the 5-6K range if I had it .

But if they'll take the trade and a 1000 I would jump on it like Rosie O'donnel on a donut rolling down the hill.

That is the best year for the motor, the right tranny for fuel mileage and it sounds like it is real nice. It would be worth a pretty penny if you are going to drive it out of it, not as much if your planning to trade in a year.

Ps. I would think everything is just like he says because I know a truck driver wouldn't lie to you.

Even at 167,000 miles that would be low mileage.

What planet you on Star ... The truck drivers I've spent my life with on planet earth have the biggest fishing stories I've ever heard!

Now don't get me wrong... President Lincoln made a statement something like (Not exact quote): If you can't make the story better you have no right to tell it!

This country was founded by liars cheats and thieves.

This is not meant to inflame or insult anyone ... And I'm not saying ALL truck drivers tell fishing stories!

-Enjoy

Now now stories and lieing is two different things, besides truck drivers don't have to lie we all have the fastest trucks, best looking girls AND catch the biggest fish.

We had one came in to load at our place one time, I heard stories all about how he was best friends with Alan Jackson, George Strait, and Dale Earnhart. He knew them all real well, and when Dale Earnhart used to come to Dallas he was the one who picked him up at the airport and drove him around the whole time.

I know the guy and the truck. We both had rigs leased to the same company back in the late 70's to 89. They sold out and went to work for Swift OTR until they retired so that's why the low mileage on the pickup, they were on the road all the time.

Vehicles get that old and it's more of a what is it worth to me, rather than what is it's actual value. The engine and overdrive alone in my truck was $8,000. Engine is a diesel recon from Cummins. It's been in for almost 14 years and only has 30,000 miles on it. Doubt I could get $8,000 out of the whole truck but it's worth more than that to me.

i dont care if it has low mi. on it because of a trucker (i use to be one ) if your out for a long time you forget about the oil and it does not get changed at the right intervals (oh How i miss driving a big truck cross country)(but i enjoy watching the kids grow up)so its not properly maintained

If you are like me and keep one forever and drive it out then it is worth quite a bit more.
I always just look at how much use I'm going to get instead of any book value.

I agree, It's all in the eye of the beholder.

Most mechanics and truck drivers I have known over my life usually drive less than new personal vehicles that don't get well taken care of.

Not all! I have seen a few with some pretty fine personal vehicles that are taking care of better than their own kids!
