I bought the return line kit and a set of injectors from Pensacola Diesel. Just installed them this week. I paid $155 for the new injectors and $29 for the return line kit off of Ebay.
The install is just like Star posted in the other thread.. Lay out the complete cylinder bank returns on the bench (I've learned the hard lesson about using the kitchen counter, NO THANKS!!), cut the hoses to fit and assemble with the new tees and clamps using the old assembly as a sample and put back on. Once I had the new tees and lines on, I installed the jumpers to the pump and to the brass tee and crossover under the rear of the intake. From the time I opened the hood until it was running was just about 2 hours with a snack break and coworker BS'n.
For those that have had issues with combustion pressure leaking around the copper, this is what I did. I used a injector bore brush (about 3/4") and ran it down into the hole after spraying it with some carb cleaner (don't spray into the bore). Made a few up and down passes and turning and then pulled it out. Used shop air to blow out anything loose and torqued the injectors to 40 ft/lbs
What a difference a set of injectors has made!! Starts easier. idles smoother. The around town butt dyno tells me I've gained a lot. It used to feel really sluggish on upshifts until the RPM's picked up. Now it wants to pull down low. At 55 when I step into it, feels like a whole different truck. I can't wait to bring it home next week to see how it handles the hills this time.
cool i will add that to the list to do on my new truck. is it worth going to bigger injectors on the non turbo idis or are the stockers fine with the pump turned up and a pyro gauge.
I toyed with the idea of using turbo code or performance injectors. But without the turbo, you will only be overfueling it.
I am running stock injectors and pump turned up 1 flat. With the old injectors, it smoked all the time this way. I could fog the whole road while pulling any grade. Now, I get a puff and it clears up.
Butt dyno says I've gained 25 horses... Should be pretty close to stock again
i want to see proof i prove it to u guy know its ur turn post a pick a dyno slip
Proof of what, Joe????? I'm not making any OUTRAGEOUS claims as you have. My truck runs like new, maybe even a little better.
Do you even know what a "butt dyno" is?
If you would like, I can send you some pictures of my "butt dyno". Although, I don't personally get into the kind of kink that has me looking at another man's "butt dyno". To each his own, I guess.
what size injectors did you get Pensacola diesel is only 2hrs from me i would drive over there to get them
I went with the stock non turbo application. I don't have any plans for a turbo, and I felt that using performance injectors would just be a waste of fuel without the air to go with it.
I have heard about some issues with the reman injectors from Pensacola. But I am very happy with mine so far.
