But beware, I had excellent service and delivery when I bought these and later some other parts but there has been a recent post about this place so take it for what it's worth.
I found allen screws at a hardware store. Don't bother with the big box home centers, these screws are unusual. I found an old tru value hardware store, the kind where the old man greets you at the door and offers to help, and they had the correct thread in several lengths. They don't have the star washer, but I lock tite everything anyway.
PM me what you are looking for. I still have a ton of stainless. I used to polish and peddle it on ebay so I could buy parts for my truck. I specialized in 53-56 because I have one but I have most of the older stuff too if you know what sizes you need.
thanks ya there 5/16ths fine. i orderd my spring bushings from johns and thay toke 5 weeks to get here. i looked at my credit card 3 weeks later and thay had'nt taken the money out so i orderd them from npd. got them got it back togather then the ones from him show up. so now i have a extra set
I was unable to locate reproduction door hinge screws for my 1952 F-1 but I did locate something close...
This is the same suggestion made earlier by "rhopper"...
My local fastener supplier had the 5/16 fine thread screw with the counter sunk head, but instead of a phillips head it has an allen head. I purchased 12 of them in 1 inch length.
Here is a picture. I tried it in the hinge and it works well. After it is painted I doubt too many folks will catch the difference in the head (except maybe some of you F-1 oldies on this forum...!)
Just a suggestion for anyone needing to replace their door hinge screws.
i should of updated this sorry. i was at my inlaws house and her stepdad is a car nut to.
he has a 69 z28,57 bel-air,69 bb vette and a 29 coupe. well it turns out the doors on the coupe use the same size screws for the doors and he had 7 of them left.
there the allen type but thay work. he got them at fastenall. but thanks for your responses.
I personally wouldn't use the Allen head bolts in my door hinges, I'm not trying to sound snobby but I don't think I'd like the look. The door hinges are a relatively noticeable area and I think the Allen heads would look too modern. If you're doing a modified truck then I probably doesn't matter. I did use Allen head bolts to bolt my panel body to the frame though. I did this because Ford in their infamous wisdom use those stupid square hole bolts, just like the ones used in the pickup boxes, and are pain to work with because you have to grind a 3/8" extension down to fit. I was able to find Allen head bolts that had the same head as the stock bolts and I doubt anyone will notice.
