I'm sticking w/ my 5.4L gasser, diesel not an option nor really needed for my usage. I'm just trying to keep up the best I can w/ the other gassers. Thanks for the tip's on these new mfg's, I'll check them out, you guy's are the best. Why do you say to stay away from foam? I already put in the foam TruFlow air filter. What does PI heads mean? To the point of the 5.4L F150 being a dog, I think I agree. I don't understand something, since the 2006 F150 has more hp & tq from the 3v engine then my 2v engine in my F250 but the F150 w/ the automatic is VERY sluggish & seems to be slower than my F250 w/ the 6 speed manual tranny. My dad has the F150 which I drive almost as much as I drive my F250. I wish I had the new 2009 F150 3v engine in my F250, that thing is making like 320hp plus can run E85!!! I'm jealous of that engine. I wonder what a salvage yard, new F150 engine would go for? Not sure how that 2009 F150 would run but probably better than my dads 2006 F150.
Thanks again
I posted this on another thread on here. Keep in mind that my truck is one of the newer 3V engines.

87 Economy
Feels like stock and saved 1L/100km running empty. Used for 532kms
87 HP/Towing
Noticable increase in power. Shifts firmer and less often, no lag noticable. Completely different then stock when packing weight (2000lbs), lots of get up and go and more controlable engine bracking when in Tow/Haul mode. No change in mileage when empty or packing loads. Used for 983kms
93 HP/Towing
Saved 1L/100kms when empty. Shifts much less when on hills, engine braking easily controlable when in tow mode. HP difference is very noticable. Fuel mileage was suprising, but the premium is 20cents/litre more then regular. Love this tune, but don't want to use it too often. Hauled load (2000lbs) up mountain switch backs like they weren't even there. 456kms in this mode.
I was driving the empty route 236kms every day and clocked both stock, 87 eco, 87 HP, and 93 HP to compare driving times. All the driving times were withen 20minutes. 93 HP was only tested once on this route once. Route is highway through mountains (hilly and twisty) Average speed of advance was 97kms/hr.
The loaded routes varried (depending on the sledding areas), but the load was the same with good stock baselines for all the routes.
There is a large number of options withen the tuner that I am still researching.
I will be going on a 2000km (approx) round trip this week and will be running the 87 HP/Towing tune. Most of the driving will be empty, but I might be transfering some trailers between sales lots on the way back.
The programmer is very easy to use and Mike at 5 Star is great to deal with. I have had no problems with it yet.
You could always add a Lightning supercharger. That is my plan. Mad Enterprises makes a good install kit that has most everything but the charger. You can add a Lightning charger for much less than a Vortech kit.
I think all of the 2v superduties after 99 got the PI Heads.
I've done most of the mods you've talked about, and the technology difference between a 89 302 and these mod motors is huge. The CIA and exhaust are good, I wouldn't do the under drive pulleys though. You'd be further ahead to put on an electric fan and water pump, Mezeires should have both the 2 and 3v apps ready. These will take the load off the engine and put them back on the alternator.
I am pretty happy with all of my mods. The sniper tuning did help quite a bit, they claim to have pulled 60hp out of a stock mustang with just tuning, but I wouldn't expect similar results. I do want to add a supercharger like a kenne bell or whipple later on, and do some head/cam work.
