Damn you're good! Came up with part numbers for both of his questions, I'll throw the switch in for an added bonus... 2008 Headlight Switch W/Fog Lights
Well, I have had my SCT programmer for two weeks now and have tested all 3 custom tunes. The unit is a X3 from 5 Start Tunning. I got 87 economy, 87 HP/Towing, and 93 HP/Towing. Please bear in mind that I am in Canada and am lazy so the numbers are in metric.
87 Economy
Feels like stock and saved 1L/100km running empty. Used for 532kms
87 HP/Towing
Noticable increase in power. Shifts firmer and less often, no lag noticable. Completely different then stock when packing weight (2000lbs), lots of get up and go and more controlable engine bracking when in Tow/Haul mode.
No change in mileage when empty or packing loads. Used for 983kms
93 HP/Towing
Saved 1L/100kms when empty. Shifts much less when on hills, engine braking easily controlable when in tow mode. HP difference is very noticable. Fuel mileage was suprising, but the premium is 20cents/litre more then regular. Love this tune, but don't want to use it too often. Hauled load (2000lbs) up mountain switch backs like they weren't even there. 456kms in this mode.
I was driving the empty route 236kms every day and clocked both stock, 87 eco, 87 HP, and 93 HP to compare driving times. All the driving times were withen 20minutes. 93 HP was only tested once on this route once. Route is highway through mountains (hilly and twisty) Average speed of advance was 97kms/hr.
The loaded routes varried (depending on the sledding areas), but the load was the same with good stock baselines for all the routes.
There is a large number of options withen the tuner that I am still researching.
I will be going on a 2000km (approx) round trip this week and will be running the 87 HP/Towing tune. Most of the driving will be empty, but I might be transfering some trailers between sales lots on the way back.
The programmer is very easy to use and Mike at 5 Star is great to deal with. I have had no problems with it yet.
