She has a couple of issues. First issue is the steering. When she's fully stopped I can hardly turn the wheels, I checked the power steering fluid and its fine, But I can hear a faint "whiney" noise you hear from the power sterring when I'm driving along and steering. So I suspect the power sterring pump may be on it's way out.
The only other issue is the batteries are just about dead in the mornings or after a few short runs a day. If i don't let her run for 10-20 minutes after each short trip she won't start. Now to me, that doesn't seem right.I know with small cars you can go on endless short runs and not worry about draining the battery. Does anyone know what readings I should be getting from each battery when she's running idle ? I just don't know whats at fault, the alternator, 1, or 2 batteries
Here is a great link with pics to show you how to do it:

Here is a thread on the battery issues you may be having:

Truck looks nice. We can also help you spend a lot of money on it.

Like already said, make sure you have ATF in your power steering pump. Some people don't know this and put power steering fluid in the pump and that is a cause of the noise.
The batts should have 12v. You should have 14v while it is running. You need 10.5v while cranking for the injectors to fire.
Only thing I can add is make sure the battery terminals are squeaky clean. I check them every time I open the hood.
Nice looking rig. Treat her right and she will treat you right.

Before you spend the money on batteries, make sure the terminals are clean and tight. If you're lucky, it might save you $200.

As for batteries, I just got off the phone and I'm looking at $205 + tax for each battery. 850cca Acdelco.
Pretty expensive batteries

I think I'll check the voltages again and maybe clean the terminals. But she's been doing this for quite some time and I know one battery was replaced before I bought her, so maybe the other battery is bad now and in effect both of them are bad.
As for mods, she has nothing done to her. I tried browsing around the forums but coulnd't find any, But I'm open to suggestions
Oh and Welcome to the Forums. You will love it here if you put some time in reading. BTW, it's a Powerstroke, not a Superstroke.

As for mods- a good intake and exhaust are a good place to start. 4" single exhaust of your choice (lots of options). For intake, the cheap and easy way is the 6637 mod. There are also more expensive options that work great like the Ford AIS or the AFE Stage 2. The 6637 mod is a DIY (do it yourself) version of a Tymar intake, which is another good option. As you poke around, you'll find lots of info on these basic mods. A good set of gauges is next- trans temp, pyro (exhaust temp) and boost are the most common. Even though you are in Canada, when you get ready to buy give Clay (Riffraff Performance) a shout- his pricing is very reasonable.
Does anyone have a link or picture to show what wires to test for voltages on the alternator and what numbers I should see when she's running at idle ?
I assume I should be getting 14.5V from the altenator and the batteries when she's running.
I'd like to test everything again with a voltmeter and see if I'm getting the proper voltages.
Also I'm going to check the wires to see if there's anything touching ground as I saw in this post. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...-problems.html
