5.8 Engine Block Color??

I'm in the process of detailing my 1995 5.8 motor and need to know what kind of paint and what color what originally used? I *think* it was medium grey in color but I cannot be sure. Is this available in any discount parts store like Advance Auto, etc? Thanks in advance!
Roger

Where I come from they are all rust colored.

I have seen lots of blocks with Ford Blue on them, but the motors I have done are painted a nice manly black.

I think they were gray from 87 up were they not? mine are? heck use your imagination -paint it what ever color will accent your engine compartment -be different-but black does show the least amount of oil leakage

Well actually my 5.8 was sealed up so well the block is heavily rusted everywhere except down the front where there was a giant coolant leak!!

I think the blocks were med ford gray like the old tractor engines. Mine is painted red to blend with the rust better.

I'm with you! When I rebuilt my 351 I painted it the dark Ford Blue. I think it really stands out in the engine bay, and it reminds me of Ford muscle from years ago.

These EFI Ford engines should be Ford Corporate Gray. I believe that you can get this color at NAPA.

Seeing one of these Ford EFI engines with a blue block is like seeing a blue Yblock-it just somehow doesnt look right!! IMHO!! Only color worse would be Chevy Orange/Red !!!

If detailing without a rebuilt----the best would be to stay with the original color--especially if the engine isnt pulled from the engine bay.

"Duplicolor DE1611" and "VHT SP138" may be this Ford Corporate Engine Gray.

Sounds right to me...all Ford engines as far as I know from the mid-80's up were this gray..is boring, but correct and I have used the Duplicolor? (pretty certain but don't remember for sure) stuff before on heads I swapped on my Mustang a couple of years ago. Available at most any of the chain auto parts stores...goes on nice, stays put well if you prep thoroughly.

Stock color is/was gray. I had one and redid the heads...repainted them gray like posted above. I never worried about how pretty it was, it's a truck. Not like I was going to show the thing.
