Hi i am looking at buying a 99 f250 V10 with 88,000 miles on it with an 8inch lift and sct tuner, the exhuast the guy has on it sounds terrible. He has gibson headers into true duals with a y pipe towards the end that goes into a single inlet gibson muffler with dual outlets. No cats. It sound like a rice burner to be honest and i dont like it. I was thinking about adding flowmaster 70 series one on each pipe and putting in a H pipe up closer to the headers. I dont know if that will sounds good and i dont want to go and buy 2 brand new mufflers and have it sound the same. I would like to know some of your guys opinions. Thanks.
Going true duals to a single then to duals again makes no sense to me.
I would get a new y-pipe fabbed from the headers to about where the stock y-pipe merges (In front of trans crossmember) and run a single 3" the rest of the way back. You can get a Flowmaster Force II catback (One without tip) for a little over $220 and it comes with the FM70 muffler as well as the tailpipe. I have the Force II on my truck with a set of doug thorley headers/y-pipe.

are the headers shorties? if not place the h pipe right after the collectors, if you can have the H pipe it's self no longer then 18" and omitt the Y. Whats the diameter of the pipe's leading to the Y?
