Broken axle removal
The easy halfass way to remove that piece of broken shaft is to put a rag in the housing and drive around until it falls out of the spider gear then slide it to the end of the axle tube with a long piece of wire.Then grab it with a set of long needle nose pliers.
Those longer spline axle shafts can be cut with a die grinder so long the splines go high enough up the shaft.
