A few questions
#1--Rebuilt C6 has been sitting for a couple years in the vehicle.
What needs to be checked before startup?
#2--Will a 76 C6 bolt up to a 88(both 460)?
#3--Flex plates same or different?
#4--Any good thoughts on an E4OD to C6 conversion?
I tow, so I don't need OD. I am adding an Doug Nash/US Gear underdrive for gear spliting, and changing from 4.10 to 3.73 & from 215 to 235 tires for better road rpm's.
Nothing against OD, just don't have a low enough RA to use if effectily. My E4OD is starting to act up & cost to much to rebuild. There is to big a spread between gear shifts. Elliott
I am no expert but,
I am pretty sure as long as your talking big block the bolt patterns are the same. for sure the c-6s and I think also the e4od.
I just got a mid 70s lincoln c-6 for my 88 bronco with a 460(not factory) and the bolt pattern is the sam, I just had change out the tail shaft and housing.I think the issue with e4od / c6 swap is driveshaft length both front and rear.
Try posting on the 385 series (460) board.
george devilla is the man for your answers.
Your also going to have problems with the computer. E4od is computer driven, when you disconnect the wiring harness from the trans the truck will not start.
If you do the conversion let us know. I am strongly considering doing the same to my '93 with a 460 and E4OD.
