Hi guys, I was poking under the hood of my truck today and noticed this. i was wondering what this thing is? is there supposed to be a hose connected at the end? it is a 1995 f250 with the 5.8l. sorry for some basic questions but i am trying to learn, and getting a lot worse gas mileage recently and so any help would be appreciated.
it sure could, but you would probably notice the engine running poorly as well. Not sure if that is something that could be a gradual problem but i've always heard about them going all at once
it is weird, like my gas mileage suddenly changed to 8.5 mpg no matter how i drive it. i just put a new o2 sensor in and there are not any vac lines loose. i am getting kind of frustrated because i would like to get to the bottom of the problem.
the truck got a whole tune up about 20k ago. When i pulled codes today i got code 172. could that code be caused by a leaking exhaust manifold? my passenger side exhaust manifold just started leaking. i was getting the real bad 8.5mpg even before it started leaking though. any help is appreciated.
yeah the newer trucks-well 93 or so were MAF-not sure when the change over happened-somewhere in that time frame! 1st time I saw it on one freaked out-holy crap what a vacuum leak-well I was wrong as usual
Jr, I'm getting the same feelin looking at that pic of a MAF 351W as when the first I opened the hood on a Gen 1 7.3 PSD after working on 7.3 IDI, its like a freaking space ship landed in the hood.
