new shocks?

I was told i need new shocks on my 02F250. I realize that some of this is just good sales pitches. Im at 81k so the milage whould suggest that its time but i dont notice anything odd while driveing. What do you guys recomend for shocks? I had very good luck with Pro comps on my old Ranger. Joe

Everyone likes the bilstein shocks. Right now they have a great deal where you buy 3 get the 4th free. About $194 shipped for all 4 if you goto shockwarehouse and use their promo code for an additional 5% off.

Well Joe, problem with the reponses is that the shock thing has been beat to death here so not alot of guys are worried about responding. There are alot of posts about shocks and suspensions here, just use the search feature. Anyways, welcome to FTE.

Joe, to be honest your stock shocks were probably worn out when you left the dealer lot. At 81k, they are well over due to be replaced. It seems the majority on this board prefer Bilstein. You can count me in that camp. As with any thing else, you get what you pay for and you won't be disappointed if you go with Bilstein.

I pulled my factory shocks off at 15,000 miles and they were toast. I'm not joking either they were totally useless. I now have Bilsteins.

My F-250 runs really bumpy with 50 lbs. in the load range E tires! I think shocks might fix this?

Your E-rated tires should probably be more near 70psi. The lower psi you are running may be causing the trucks shocks to rebound harder. Not saying you don't need shocks but check the max psi on the tire and you shouldn't be much lower than 10 psi on the max rating.

I think the door panel says to have 45psi in the front and 70 psi in the back.....That is how I have mine set up.
