The vaccuum modulator leaks transmission fluid when I pull the hose from it. I'm going to get a new one right now. Could someone explain how to install the new one.
Is fluid going to come pouring out?
Do I need to purchase anything else to complete the install?
Thanks for the help.
undo the bolt and remove the clip. yes some fluid is going to come out, not a lot. don't loose the rod . clean yours to get the #'s off, there's like 4 different ones.when you put it back, make sure to replace the rubber line on both ends, the oil satureates the rubber, and it will suck it flat causeing erratic shifts. there is a adjustment for the shifts inside where the vaccume line hooks on,use a small screwdriver, in for firmer shifts, out for softer
Thanks for the info, I just got one. I'm hoping its got the same numbers. Should I just put the pin in the new one and reinstall, and see how it shifts before I make any adjustments
yes, the adjustment is for personal preferance of where it shifts. I usually put them in then go for a spin. catch a hill or two, stomp it a couple of times, etc. if your pleased, ok, if not, just pull off the hose, and turn 1/4 turn at a time. in for firmer[quicker] out for softer [slower]
should be numbers ink stamped into the side of the mod body. if none, it is probably already a replacement. if that's the case just get whatever is available
When I bought one it had color bands on it instead of numbers. You should have been through all of this when you went to the parts store if there was a problem. If they just gave you one, stick in on and see what happens.
stuck it on, lots of fluid came out. It has lengthened the time between shifts which is nice. Still get a clunk when I come to a stop sometimes. I am going to bring it to the mechanics for a band adjustment, I dont want to break anything.
