Hahaha well I gotta pull it this weekend so I have a good working vehicle to drive I wish I could just pull the top cap part off but it got so messy in their i might just take it out an clean I think I will make it easy and just pull everything out to get to it I dont have a air conditioning as I like the heat so my engine is huge but in that area their isnt must just exaughst and a pully. Thanks and I dont know what I am doing so tips on what to do would be great but on like all my other vehicles I usually get them fixed and once I am certain of the problem and I figure out how it works and what it does. Thanks very much so far.

LOL, yes I know there is an integral oil cooler on these engines.

From the description I understood the leak was coming from some sort of open fitting or added port (possibly for an auxiliary cooler). There is a threaded port in the filter head of the oil cooler that is normally plugged off if I remember right.

Thats why I figured it would be simpler to see a pic of whats going on. Tried looking at your gallery, but the picture was not showing.

Yes, there are a total of 4 special O rings in the integral oil cooler that keep oil separate from coolant. I think you can get new O rings at ford or an international harvester dealer.

They are not fun to change it is a royal pain in the posterior. And my engine was already out of the truck. In the truck it is also hard to get it out. I made quick work of the orings with lots of whatever the white greas we use as asembly lube is and a soft faced dead blow hamer held on it by a freind while i wacked the end on with my BFH not recomended its easy to mess up an oring this way but it worked for me. If you PM me your email adress I well email you the info on The right way to do it.

Is the cooler leaking from the tube part in the center of the ends or is it leaking from where the ends mount to the engine block?

The oil cooler get all oil right straight from the oil pump and most of the coolant straight from the radiator as soon as it enters the engine.

You need 4 O rings and two gaskets from Ford or International, cost about 50 dollars.

An arbor press makes it easier to get it back together with the new O rings installed.

Drain the coolant, remove the oil filter and unbolt the drivers side motor mount is how this repair starts.
Jack up the engine as high as you can and block it there with a short 2x4 between the engine and frame mounted motor mount parts.

Then unbolt the oil cooler, expecting more coolant and oil when it breaks loose from the block.
