The cab on my truck looks like it sits low on the driver's rear. The stylelines between the box and cab are off by probably 3/8 inch (not the end of the world but it really bugs me and I am going to be doing some body touch up this summer anyway). The cab and box are even on the passengers side. As I recall, the mount is buried above the tank? Last time I was under the truck was over a year ago doing the fuel filter. Cab pan is surprisingly nice, no crusties so I don't suspect rustout. No accident damage ever..cab and box are factory paint. Anyone have an idea just how horrible it is going to be to get the mount out and replaced or shimmed to make up the sag. I am assuming rusty hardware, but otherwise does it require dropping the tank to get at it? Just curious about how much I am going to hate this job? Does Ford or someone sell the body mounts separately or only as a kit?
Ur best bet is to change them all. Summit has the body mount kit for around 65.00. Getting the bolts out will be the worst part and once u get one sides bolts out jack that side up with a nice piece of wood and a jack and start changin.
The other possibility would be you rear cab mount crossmember is getting bad. I had to completely replace the one on my 84 F150 (found a clean one at the junkyard) I was able to repair the one on my 84 F250 by welding some plates in there. What happens is the spot on the crossmember where the body mount bushings pass through gets "soft" and eventually rots through, causing th cab to lean or sag to one side.
My truck has the sag going on too, just a bit(maybe 1/4" or less). Haven't gotten to involved with it, yet. We'll see this summer as it is kinda annoying.
I feel terrible for you Midwest and East Coast guys, but I'm glad I don't have to deal with stuff rotting out on my truck.
AHMEN !!! to that. We dont really have that problem where I live, unless you live directly on the coast and spend all your time at the beach and never wash the salt water off
