OK, sorry it took so long. Between work and a hundred other things I had to park the truck for a while.
I had the exhaust system replaced, that Helped.
I went by my other truck and totally re-installed all the EGR/Smog lines that were messed up or missing and replaced the EGR Valve, Big Improvement but it then had a dead spot in the throttle.
I took it to the local shop and the mechanic ran it down for me. It was Out of Time! Almost 15degrees retarded, why/how I don't know. It hadn't jumped time on the chain or anything, it was simply out of wack.
Now the dang truck runs like I think it should. Good first and second gears, ok third if it's tached-up, and 4th for highway only.
The man said it was out of time, so I assume the distributor was off. Either way, he got it straightened out. I don't know which timing setup it has, I haven't had to remove the front cover one one Yet.
