Metal roll-up door operator

I am wondering if anyone has installed a roll-up door operator, i have a 12' roll up door on my shop, its operated by pulling a chain, to open and close the door, has anyone used a regular 3/4 hp residential garage door opener to open and close a roll-up door? I am thinking that the motor and drive gear should be fairly easy to adapt to the chain operator gear. use the limit switches to operate the travel on the open and close.
has any one done this yet? pulling the chain for the roll-up door is way easier than opening or closing a regular garage door with out an opener.
any help would be appreciated

Don't have any good reasons to tell you not to give it a try.
Maybe someone else has some reasons why it wouldn't work, but I can't think of any.

Inquired about metal roll-up doors a few years ago. If I recall, there were a few sites on the net that sold 'em. Might be able to find a scematic drawing or motor info to help. Sorry, but that's all I got.
