04 Engine trouble

I have noticed over the past week or so that about every 5th or 6th start my truck seems like it skips right before it fires. I wait until the fuel pump stops and the lights go off of course but right before it fires it seems like it skips...very little smoke...I am driving to memphis from greensboro nc this weekend and need to find out what this might be....

what do you mean skips? like mis-fires? could be fuel filters or maybe your starter depending on what you mean by skipping. How old are you batteries?

New battery, starter and alternator within two months...Fuel filters changed last month..You know when it turns over it it almost like a misfire but keeps trying to crank..all of it happens within three or four seconds and it fires right up with very little smoke...

as long as its rated for the 6.0psd then it should be good. they say these engines can be very particular about the oil in them due to the fact that they use oil pressure to fire the injectors. has it only started happening since you last oil change?

i know it sucks but you might wanna try a different oil then and see if that fixes it then. that might be the cheapest way to start. go back to your old oil or try a different brand.
