I could belive the thrmal shock thing. Ive heard of injections pumps locking up if they are washed off while running. Do to the tight tolerances. I have not seen it personaly, but a older and much wiser guy at work has.
Has anybody ever put a little wvo in with diesel let it cool and see how it mixed or does it seperate. Just curious I just use 100% diesel with all the alternatives someone has to keeeeep the oil companies in business.
We mixed 50/50 in a mason jar and stuck it in the freezer. It had a lower freeze point than straight wvo and it did not seperate. It did thin the mixture. Some guys mix thier stuff in the front tank and stay straight diesel in the rear. They save money on fuel and dont have to worry with heating the fuel in the summer. We have run different mixes and noticed no problems.
Our experiments show that wvo becomes difficult to pump around 35 degrees. kinda like pancake syurp. It turns solid at about 25.
I like the seperate return switch idea. That would be easy to install. Thanks.
Has anybody run wvo AFTER installing a rebuilt pump? I am not opposed to replaceing a pump every 100,000 miles. Fuel savings will more than pay for that. Would de-tuning the pump help? We dont really need all the power these monsters produce.
I ran WVO in mine after the pump went out, didn't have any problems, It is very important that the #2 fuel runs through the heat exchanger, this means as the engine warms up the fuel heats up slowly, as opposed to cold diesel and then hot WVO, the fuel heats up slowly instead of hitting the pump all at once. You need to run #2 through the tank at least a tank or two to let the pump get broken in, thats what the injection pump man told me.
Thanks. That makes sense. I think I will relocate my exchanger and add a second switch for the return lines. Now I just have to get up the money for the pumps. Might take awhile.
One more thing, just for the record.
After 20 minutes idle time,
The coolant temp was 181
The filter head temp [top part] was 180
The ip temp was 156
Will get an ip temp reading after a few miles. Will be higher.
