Dana 20? T-case problems???
My question is how does this case work is it a full time case. The front axel does have manualy locking hubs on it .
If I move the shifter forward the truck has 4wheel drive . If I shift it back it has two wheel drive . There is now differnce in road speed or engine rpm . Should this be a full time case with a low range or is this the correct way it operates ? I wonder if the original owner added the manual hubs due to automatic??? ones not working ?
any information would be extremly helpful
thanks ,Jon

you do NOT have a full time case. What you have is a dana 21 unit. it has NO provision for a low range. it is either 4HI or 2HI. on the half ton series truck, they used this setup from 66 until 76? F250s were different in the sense that they used either a NP 205, dana 24 or a FULL TIME NP 203. I believe in the later years 77? the half tons might have used the 205/203's im not sure. BUT i AM sure that from 66-75, it was a single speed T-case on the 1/2 tons. I have this same exact setup on my 66 F100. I( did a conversion to a dana 20 T-case (has low range)--got it out of a 66 bronco--works really good ALTHOUGH the whole thing was a lil expensive with the adapter and all!
Hope this helps!!
