Have anyone put a shift kit in a 93 f150 with a E40D tranni i was told by the tranni shop that this upgrade was no good for the E40d tranni. is this true im looking for a firmer shift.
My transmission shop included one in the rebuild, so he must think that it is good, not bad for the E4OD. I do not know what brand he used. The result is not so much firmer upshifts, as it is more positive downshifts and reprogrammed compression braking (coast clutch). Mine is a '94 F150 4x4 302.
The E4OD has characteristically shifted sloppy and soft from the factory, so a shift kit will only increase life and make it feel better. A reprogramming kit is even better, but they are expensive, and I think you might have to remove the transmission from the vehicle, so its more trouble than its worth. Cant go wrong with a shift kit though.
good luck,
