Looking at starting some work on a 391 block being used for a stroker project. Before I get started wanted to get the distributor bushing so I can use the regular FE distributor but have been unable to find one. Searching the internet I find many references to needing it, but nobody saying where to get it. Anyone have any ideas?
I already tossed the old distributor, but going with a MSD unit. The original distributor had the governor built into it. My understanding of the difference is the lower part of the block where the driveshaft goes into the distributer since these had the bigger dist driveshaft diameter.
Was thinking a guy could make an adapter, maybe using the FT's distributor
housing if nothing else. My first plan will be to figure out what all needs to be
done to the original to get it to do what it needs to do. Nuthin' maybe? :)
Why I was asking...
I own a 361FT and will be bringing it home soon and plan to figure out what
all I've got to do to put it in my '75 F150+T18. :) Throwing away its original
distributor ain't part of the plan tho! LOL :)
As far as the governor goes, I don't believe I'll have any problems with it. :)
If it doesn't get in my way, like them dumb *** chokes do, I'll keep it,
otherwise out'ill come my hacksaw, drill and shotgun shot-size collection... http://www.panix.com/~alvinj/file12/choke1.jpg
According to another internet forum, the part number is C4TZ-12367-A. I think it was recently discontinued by Ford. Dont know if it is okay to mention that forum here, but someone there might have a line on one.
Thanks for the number. If anyone has a line one one, please let me know. Just called my local Ford dealer and it still comes up in the system as a valid number, but none are available anywhere.
One more thing- I did a search out of curiosity and saw two possible sources. DSCmotorsports.com then click distributor parts, it is at the top of the list, about $46. Classicautoparts.com in OKC showed this part for about $36, although it is listed for a six cylinder, so you would need to verify it is the correct part. Their web site's catalog really slowed down my computer. I also saw it mentioned that Mallory makes an FT distributor if you wanted to spend the $$$,
