I had to change out the fuel pump on 1966 F100. The hard fuel line that ran from the pump the carb has what "bolt" on it that threads it into the pump itself. THat is so stripped out and rounded that it wont work on the new pump. Where do I get a new hard fuel line with that "bolt" on it. It seems like that is part of the line since it is to small to just slip off the hard line. Hope that makes sense. Let me know if a pic will help.
Thanks for everyones help. Once I get the fuel pump back on I am pretty sure this sweet truck will be on the road again!
You can always just buy some threaded nipples and run rubber line. You can buy hard line and bend it. Take the old line to the auto parts store so they can compare the size of the nuts. I would take the old line to napa if you decide to run rubber line. They will give you the correct size nipples for the carb and pump.
You need to carefully cut the nut off, clean any rough edges and remove any filings. Go to an autoparts store that has tool rentals and get a double line flaring tool. Carefully follow the directions and after installing a new nut, put a double flare on the line. Take your time and remove any thing that may be in your way like the PS pump. Installing a double flair is not difficult as long as you take your time. It may be difficult to keep the holding tight enough to prevent the line from slipping. I suggest you use a couple of C clamps. After that it is really not complicated, just remember to put the new nut on first!!
Simpler solution is very carefully take the nut and reshape it on your bench grinder or place it in a vise and use a file. Use your wire wheel to clean the threads out so it screws on easily. A new line as suggested is probably the best though.
