I stopped watching it as well. It was real good in the beginning when they made good bikes and were small. Now they got to big, to popular and to smug for their own good. Must be nice to destroy your own stuff every so often (trucks, buildings, equipment) I prefer Jesse James. Thats why he stopped Monster Garage and the other show he was involved with. He wanted to stay out of the public eye and concentrate on his own stuff and not do popular crap. I went to his shop, unfortunatly they dont do any kind of tour, but I did get to see some pretty cool stuff.
I bet if they were building you a bike, you'd get that tour you want.
It became a soap opera, Drama is for morons, a professional shop is too busy working.
The whole tendency to dramatize every show has even spawned the term "docusoap".
I also don't relate to the whole show bike thing. They aren't as awful as the long bikes with spool front axles of long ago, but are still bar bikes. Nothing with that steering geometry turns worth doody.
Ahhh, American Chopper. One of the shows that I very much enjoy talking crap about.
I watched that show a few times in the very beginning, but it really went downhill. Haven't watched it in quite awhile but these were my main sticking points:
1. After all these years, nobody on the show (especially jr.) can read a cue card worth a **** and make it sound natural.
2. The bikes are honestly ugly. I've never gotten the appeal of the hardtail choppers with the mega-raked front end and mile long forks, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. They look uncomfortable and difficult to ride too.
3. This show introduced the word "sick" into the vernacular, so now every toolbag that wants to sound cool describes a car/truck/bike/whatever as being "sick."
4. There's way too many people that have OCC (or west coast choppers) decals, apparel and etc. for no particular reason except that they probably think it makes them look cool (I feel much the same way about Harley decals & apparel)
I was reading some heavy equipment forums a while ago and they were talking about Ax Men. Someone from the area posted a link to an article saying how riverboy got shut down because he didn't have a permit to be pulling logs out of the river.
Stump Branch isn't back on the show this year because OSHA showed up too much. In that operation's history it never got a visit from OSHA. Once the show aired they got 2. So did Gustafson and Browning.

Can't really say that's true. I was using the word "sick" the same way going back to the early 90's.
For what it's worth, I quit watching those clowns a long time ago. Show needs to go on to another life.
I am not a fan of any reality television show...be it Deadliest Catch or Ax-Men. I still haven't figured what Ax-Men has to do with history.
All of the Discovery channels have gone down the "tubes" in my opinion. TLC is mostly about dressing shows or how many kids a family has. Still waiting for an octo-mom show to show up on TLC.
Even with DirecTV and all the channels we get? There is still times when there is nothing worth watching.

Well maybe I should say it was introduced into the COMMON vernacular. Everyone and their brother uses it now, but it especially irks me when people that don't know a camshaft from a hole in the ground use it.
Oh and yes, History, TLC and Discovery have all gone downhill.
History channel used to have lots of great shows about WWII stuff. What happened to them? Now it's all UFO files and monster hunters or whatever that's called.
Discovery has some good shows (I like survivorman, and man vs wild although it's a bit ridiculous....I love how it's made and dirty jobs is entertaining). I agree that TLC has too many shows about families with 25 kids and stupid crap like that now.
I didn't know it was still on and watched it last week end was disapointed when they talked about the economy being bad and then show Jrs. tools being dropped of in a toilet pick up and then Sr drives in with a toilet. Good old Union man he is.
The new one called "the cougar" is about some worn out old hoe in her 40s who has about 20 young horny men all wanting to "date" her at the same time......Im sick of the preveiws and the show hasnt even started yet..a real loser I bet
