A/C issues......

I have an 94 F250 XL with 5.8 motor, with auto tranny with overdrive. 250K + mileage.

AC doesn't or cycle or "click". Checked the fuses, no blown fuses. Could it be a relay that failed? And where in the world is the relay box? Bought a Haynes manual, doesn't help find the relay box or troubleshoot the problem. So I ask for your advice and direction. Thanks.

Most likely cause is it is low on freon. Probably just needs charged up.

Relays seldon go bad. I'd check your freon charge. Most of the low pressure switches cut out arouind 20 psi. Get a set of gauges, you can get them at a autoparts store. If you carry your truck and get the A/C checked they will bust you for big money. A set of gauges will cost you about 100 busks but you can use them again and again.

You do not have any relays in the A/C system.
As said above a low charge is most likely your problem but you do have a fuse in the clutch circuit. It is fuse #6 in your dash fuse panel.

I guess I can get one of these recharge kits from Autozone, Kragen or NAPA. I need to know where is "high side" to install r-134. Please advise. Thanks.

You recharge on the low side not the high side. If you hook the can to the high side it could explode.
The Low side fitting is near the heater box area.

I agree with subford on this one -never try to charge the high pressure side-i saw one guy try it one time-he would not listen to me -as i quickly walked away-yeah it's near the heater box-and there should be a plug in type connection into the line close to the inlet valve-sometimes if it's really low you may have to use a wire to jump the low pressure switch-well i do at times-just speeds up the process-till the compressor will kick in on it's own

I don't know when Ford switched over to R134a but your truck could have R12. It may have been converted to R134a.

Sound like you had better take it somewhere to have it fixed.
Or take a class on auto A/C.

Do you have a gauge set?
In auto shop 101 did you pump down and recharge an auto A/C system?
If you do not know what you are doing you could cause more problems to the A/C system and when you take it in it will cost a lot more money then it would now.

And yes most but not all the time the high side is by the radiator as the condenser is on the high side.
