Ok I just thought that sounded catchy. My alternator went out on my '84 300 6 truck. I had to basically destroy the old alternator to get it off, because the bolt that goes throught it fused together with the aluminum in the casing. I have an high output alternator left over from an 89 Mustang build. I know i will have to change the pullies, but it has the regulater on the back. If I get the plug for this alternator, can I use it?
If you get it mounted you can use it. You will need to retrieve the green/red wire going to your old regulator and wire it to the new alternator. That's the wire from the keyswitch that triggers the alternator to come online. It will be either on the "s" terminal or the "i" terminal of the old regulator.
Please post a pic of the back of the the alternator, or at least the overhead view of the regulator plug... need to know if this is a 3g high output or not.
