here she is
prolly around the end of summer i'm going to paint it, thinking about going with the dark grey and putting the chrome trim back on.
today i changed the leaking oil pressure sending unit, and power bled the brakes.
tomorrow going to reseal the windshield after work.
i was spraying some belt dressing on, and got a bit too close to the alternator fan (rad fan sprays it too much if you hold the can back).
the alt fan peeled about 1/3 of my right middle finger nail off.
there was no need for that, i've been nothing but nice to her...

so the updates:
redid the entire braking system...the only thing left from 1981 are 3 hard brake lines, a power brake booster, and the forward most ebrake cable i replaced everything else with new.
been tweaking the motor a bit and drove it 2.5hrs down the highway and avg'd 17MPG @ 67mph, i was quite pleased with that. This was with c6, 3.25:1, and 225/75r15 tires. Wasnt quite as good coming home as i had 500+ lbs of motor in the bed, still managed 15MPG @70mph.
As for the motor, after looking and researching building the 300 i finally decided it wasnt what i wanted. So i found an E0AE 302 complete and running, with the frame perches, and the correct flex plate for 302/c6 for $125. This past week i have been tearing it down for cleaning and inspection.

The next pic is kinda disgusting (please cover your children's eyes or have them leave the room...or better yet tell them this is why they should change their oil regularly!)

The entire top of the motor looked like this when we started pulling it apart, which really took me by surprise as the motor ran perfect before we pulled it. Idled @ 350RPM without the faintest knock or tick, and ZERO smoke.
So this past week we spent cleaning, scrubbing, dipping, washing, and wire brushing.

The motor is in need of rod / main / cam bearings, but the cyl walls were in great shape. There was also VERY LITTLE ridge at the top of the walls so the crank will get polished or turned (depends on what the machine shop says) and new cam bearings pressed in.
As for those heads, who wants smog heads..lol A family friend had a set of 1965 Mustang 289 heads laying around, that he let go cheap. They only have 50miles or so since rebuild on them and already had 3a valve job and 1.94/1.60 valves installed. The only thing they need are guide plates and screw in studs put in. They are small chamber early style heads which should put me somewhere are 9.5 - 10:1 compression with the flat top pistons in the block.

The cam i'm going to use is the comp cams XE256H

should make for a decent truck cam, im not building a high RPM motor.
I'll be using a 2v Holley carb from a 1969 mustang, and im trying to find a FORD aluminum 2v intake (do they even have one?)
Just for fun i sand blasted and painted one of the valve covers.

After i get the motor done and in the truck the next thing will be some body work and paint... I hope to have the truck under prime atleast by spring.
After that, f150 springs (coil / leaves), and wheels / tires... Anson Sprint wheels most likely 15x7 and 30x9.50r15 tires, and Have the bed Line-x'd!
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
That interior looks really good for the year. Your seat is the same as the one that was in the truck I got my interior from. Too bad some idiot took the seat out of the truck before I got to the interior.
I don't know much about the newer seats, but I can say that my Ranger Lariat seat is 6 times more comfortable than my original. The original was exactly like yours, just tan.
Here's a pic of the two together. I think there's more foam in the Ranger Lariat seat. Now to only have it recovered in black to match my interior.
