dealership woes,...
Just the other day I saw something that made me cringe. But its bound to get a laugh from you guys. I was out looking for another vehicle for my wife. The dealership had a nice looking 97 f250 PSD and there was a customer who wanted to see it. The salesman and the sales manager walked out to start it. I wansnt paying close attention at the time but they had my attention in a second. It was 70+* outside and the salesman got inthe truck and opened the hood, the sales manager lifts the hood and produces a can of ether, and says ok. The salesman starts cranking, no way did the wts light go off yet. The salesmanager starts spraying a HUGE stream into the air filter box. Suddenly the air filter box explodes sending chunks of plastic like chinese stars sticking into the hood insulation. He then proceeds to try to blow out the flames. after putting it out he sprays it again,... more flames. Eventually it starts. It sounded like there were four pre-pubesant teens in the back with sledgehammers. This thing could only be hitting on 5 cylinders at best. The sales manager looks at the customer and says it runs real good once it warms up. Meanwhile the smoke coming from it is ensuring they wont have any mosquitoes this season, as the nearby trees are having leaves fall off from how thick it is. That was enough to tell me we needed to be at a different dealership, no matter what vehicle we were looking at. They honesty were trying to sell it like that w/ 285k for only $9k. Sometimes makes you wonder how dumb people are or they think we are.

i have only ever used ether once. -20 degrees + 30mph winds blowing straight into the grill all night. i was almost crying as i sprayed just a little in the air box. it started and sounded like crap for 5 or 10 secs. never used it once this winter.

over half my GP's are junk, I'm to scared to try and take them out with this many miles, last truck I did half of them fell apart and stuck in the heads......we all know how that goes...
I unhook the GP's every time. the brass nut on the GPR fell into the valley of death and never returned so its realy easy and quick to unhook them. pop the 6637 off, shoot for a second, crank, if its super cold and the heater wasn't plugged in it will take a larger shot but one sec almost always does it. once it running hook the GPR back up and put filter together.
I wouldn't be so carless but this trucks got 309K on what I belive to be the original everything, minus accesories on the motor. she's paid her bills.
