Dealership wants to rewrite the deal 2 days after sale
I bought a new Expedition Tuesday eve, very nice truck. More on that later!
I had telephoned salesman Monday, he then sent me an email with his offer of truck price, less rebates, less my trade, plus tax and the total. I said good, done deal. Drove up, did deal, wrote check for difference. Went home.
Yesterday he calls and said he needs to change to sales price. He gave me the lease rebate of 3500 not the sales rebate of 1500, but if I would finance, there is another rebate that gets his difference to only 1,000 or so.
Wife says, What! They already cashed our check, you can't rewrite the deal now!
Salesman is nice guy, This is the 3rd truck I've bought from him.
Should I try and help him out, should I put in more money, or continue on with my life?

Once the paperwork is signed and the check is written you have a legal contract and never heard of a dealer trying to go back on that, i've seen deals on things where they messed up on something that they could've made more money on and admitted it after the deal was done but they've always stuck with the contract that was signed. It's a little fishy that they go after 1,500$ like that on a truck that costs Big money after the deal was done. If you want to be a very honest guy talk to him and explain that you have a contract for x$ and thought that was the deal and you're not trying to screw him but thought that was the deal, if they still want the extra money that's up to you to decide whether to pay or walk away and find a different salesman.

I really like this truck, and believe that I will keep it for a number of years. I don't want a bad experiance to soil my fondness of truck.
I also do think it was an honest mistake on salesmens part. He said that if I run 10,000 thru Ford credit there will be a rebate and get difference down to 1,500. I said that I would split it with him. So it will cost me $750 to re-write the deal. I also said he is going to send me Ford mud flaps. He overnighted the paperwork on Friday. I should get Monday, so I can still mull over.
I don't like it, it ticks me off. Now I have a lien on the title, even if I pay off in a few month. I don't believe I'll go back to this dealership for service or future purchases.

What happens if you don't let the salesman rewrite the deal??? Does the dealership come & take the truck you paid for already & signed a contract on away from you?? Or are they powerless to do anything??
There's no way I would shell out $750.00 to help fix a salesman's "mistake". No matter how many Ford mudflaps they sent me.
Like it or not, car dealerships are full of dishonest people. It sounds like you have run in to some of them.
I agree with twiggs.

The next time the dealer calls you, you tell them that the problem is theirs and that you will tell the local and online media, tv, radio, news, blogs, google about their business practices if they don't honor the deal.
I would also explain that you understand how embarrassing this must feel for them.
I would then tell him to have the dealership owner call you and explain how he is going to rectify the problem.
Your problem will be solved in 1 minute. You are welcome.

I got a 2015 from a salesman with whom I have dealt for 25 years or so. I have never had him come back on me after we signed, but he had made a similar mistake before we closed the deal and asked if I still wanted to buy. I did.
I know I can get a better deal elsewhere but I also know when I need something done at the dealership, IT WILL BE DONE. It is worth it to me to keep a good working relationship with people I trust, rather than go with the cheapest!
If you feel it was truly an honest mistake then meet him half way. If you don't feel it was an honest mistake then don't.
