shouldnt be a problem to swap to the f250 springs. i have f250 rear leafs on my 91 f150 although it is a 2wd. i dont think you would have to change the shocks. i know theres some other people on this site that have done the same upgrade your inquiring about.
If u do use the 250 springs u will have to remove the lift blocks and get shorter u bolts but it still will sit a lil higher than the front. With the blocks in it was rediculus
clean your frame and undercoat or paint -it will last much longer! rust is not these trucks friend! trust me i lost a good 88 to rust
lost a 90 from cancerous rust here as well deffinately look into cleaning up your undercarriage some, otherwise rust related issues are only down the road..
x3 on the rust it got my 83.
Be aware that some F150s used 2.5" wide springs and others have 3" wide. I had the same issue on my 94 and it was 2.5" wide. Check your hangers and perches for damage too.
good luck

ok by ford catalog, the 4x2 f150s and rangers use 2.5 wide the 4x4 and f250/f350 use 3 inch . i used rearched 4 inch f250 springs in the back of my 96 f150 4x4, and dont just replace the broken leaf like suggested replace the whole dang thing. after fighting mine off at 100k i would suggest by planning at least new eye bolts and rear shakles , i had to torch the rears off and sawzall the bolt in the front as i was too close to the fuel tank and lines for a torch
I just replaced the rear leaves on my 91 F150 4x4 with rear leaves from a 89 F250 4x4. They broke exactly where yours did. It was a good match for a front 4'' lift when i removed the rear block and installed a sky mfg shackle flip. I think I am going take out a leave to get better flex and ride. But the gnarly axle wrap I had with the broken stock springs is gone. Bolt on affair.
Thanks for all of the advice! My plan is to replace all of the springs using rear leafs made for an F250 and the front coil springs made for a 2x4 F250.
