Pulled up the driveway today and left what I consider a huge oil spot! Figured it must be from the top of the motor and after further review I was right. The valley has a bunch of oil in it.
My question is what are the possible leaks up there. I started looking around, but cant seem to find any where that looks to be the source. May have to take a few things apart to get a better look I suppose. I was just wanting to know where I should be looking.
The most common place for oil is one of the HPOP fittings o-rings failed.. Its common and an easy fix.. Here is an article that might help you along with part numbers..

Thanks.
You need to clean first with some rags, low pressure water and some simple green spray. Get the valley as clean as possible, start it up and look for leaks. A hand mirror is also a good thing to have so snoop around. Chances are, your HPOP sprung a leak.
Thanks for that link superdoodie. That was informative.
I just got back from checking it with an inspection mirror and I am clueless as to where the oil is coming from. The is nothing wet except the valley. The hpop lines are dry from what I can tell.
Thanks Chris, I will go out and give it a good cleaning tonight. It looks like the rain they were predicting is coming in so probably wont be able to fix it until Friday.
Don't forget to check around the turbo. There are o-rings at the base of the turbo pedestal where it mounts to block and at the top of pedestal where the turbo mounts. Good Luck.
Ya, the first thing I did was make sure it was oil. Been there before, last time it was fuel. Well I think I got it good and clean so tomorrow I'll look again.
I did check around the turbo. I think it is back there somewhere as everything is messy there, but I could really see any specific spot.
Well this thing has got me a little puzzled!! I cleaned it up, ran it for a little while I looked around, nothing. So I took everything off above the valley so I could look closer. I can not find any fresh leak. There was a bunch of oil sitting in the valley prior to the first cleaning so it came from somewhere. I really cleaned it up good, it was a mess in there, and put it back together. I will run it around tomorrow and see if there is any oil sitting in there again. A little puzzling as there was a spot on my driveway 6" in diameter. I guess there could be a very small leak and the incline of my drive just emptied out the back end of the valley as I normally park on a more level portion than I was that day.
Somebody didn't miss the filler neck when they added oil lately?
LOL! If that is what happened the stuff has been up there for a while as I changed my oil back in January. But who knows I am not ruling anything out!!
